Hi welcome to my series on how to start loving Windows 11 now that it's time for Windows 10 to say bye 👋🏻. Until 14th of October I will explore Windows 11 features and functionality 💗.

In the third blog post in my series on how to fall in love with Windows 11 I want to talk about the menu being in the middle of the screen. Does it feel weird and different? Yes! Will you adapt to it quickly? Yes!

So, the big question is - why is the menu in the middle? In an article from 2021 Diego Baca, then Principal Design Director for Windows and devices at Microsoft said they noticed the use of Windows ranged all the way from tiny tablets to ultra-wide monitors and it made them think about the place for the menu placement. And for me this makes sense, my menu is always easily accessible no matter what device or screen I am using - eyes goes directly to the middle!

If you still want the move to Windows 11 to feel less new and scary you can change the menu from center to the left by following these steps:

  1. Open the settings

  2. Open Personalisation, then open Taskbar

  3. Under Taskbar behavior change Taskbar alignment from Centre to left

  4. Voila 🌸

Setting where you can change menu location

I know it's a bit different, but try it and be open!
